Privacy Policy

The short version

This is a personal portfolio website. It exists to share work, not to collect yours. I don’t run ads, I don’t sell data, and I have no interest in knowing more about you than what you choose to share when you reach out. What follows is the longer version — because transparency is something I happen to believe in professionally and personally.

Website address

This privacy policy applies to asmitaghosh.com.

Getting in touch

If you email me directly, your name and email address are received by my inbox and used only to respond to you. I don’t add you to mailing lists, pass your details to third parties, or retain correspondence beyond what any standard email provider keeps as a matter of course. If you’d like me to delete your message, just ask.

Cookies

This site uses only the cookies WordPress sets by default — small text files that help the site function. If you’re visiting as a regular reader (which is almost certainly what you’re doing), no personally identifying cookies are set.

If I’m logged into the WordPress dashboard, the site sets login cookies that last up to two weeks. These exist for my own convenience and contain nothing of value to anyone else.

Media and images

Images on this site don’t contain embedded location metadata. Worth knowing that’s a thing that exists — I do.

Embedded content

Some pages embed content from external platforms — YouTube videos, Instagram posts, and the like. That embedded content behaves exactly as it would if you’d visited those platforms directly, including any tracking they do. I have no control over their data practices. Most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies if you’d prefer to limit that.

Analytics

This site may use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand general traffic patterns — which pages get read, roughly where traffic comes from. No personally identifiable information is collected, and you are not tracked across other websites.

Third-party services

This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google’s servers receive your IP address as part of that request. If that concerns you, a browser extension can block it — the site will fall back to system fonts and remain perfectly readable.

Data retention

I don’t maintain a database of visitor information, because I don’t collect one. Emails I receive are retained for as long as they’re relevant to an active exchange.

Your rights

You have the right to know what personal data this site holds about you, to receive a copy of it, and to request its deletion. Since this site collects very little to begin with, any such request can almost certainly be handled in a single reply. Get in touch via email and I’ll respond promptly.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes meaningfully, I’ll update this page. The date of the last revision is below.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you have a concern this doesn’t address, you’re welcome to reach out by email. I read everything.
